Adam & Eve

My mom and dad both passed away some time back.

I had the bittersweet task of going through their stuff.

My mom enjoyed ceramics in the 1970’s.

She would go to the Mammoth Mart in Calais and get many pieces to paint and fire.

This piece was given to my dad on Valentine’s Day circa 1970’s.

It’s Adam and Eve fully and thoroughly in love.

Maybe it was Richard and Dorothy’s love.

The statue seems corny.

I kept it forever in my study near all of my religious stuff.

Now when I look at it, I am reminded on the early chapters of Genesis when God created man and woman to be united together.

I am also reminded of the love sonnets in the Song of Solomon.

And in a mysterious way, this statue reminds me of Christ’s love for the church.
